Taipa bay resort is situated in the heart of Doubtless Bay 50 meters from an sheltered all tide boat ramp and mooring with close proximity to five harbours two oceans east and west coast fishing.
Boat ramp is 15 minute boat ride to Berghan point and rocky coastline down to whangaroa ,20minutes to Knuckle point northern point of Doubtless Bay and the start of Cape Kari Kari.
Facilities offered by the Taipa Bay Resort include fish cleaning area , "U" drive hire boat and local charters.
Security,we take this seriously with a high fenced secure yard locked at night,our own personnel on site security all night to look after your valuable assets .if you wish to venture away and retrieve your boat a few days later we are more than happy to secure your boat in our yard in the meantime

We offer kayaks to guests and Public for hire so you may get out and explore the local coastline and also hire power boats to venture further afield and chase down the best fishing spots.
The U DRIVE BOAT HIRE boats are available from the resort and may be launched by our staff and ready to go with rods, fuel, bait and fully equiped with safety gear, for a full day or half day on the water.

1.Whangaroa harbour 25 minutes* south by road ,launch at Totara North,good scallops at harbour entrance,close to Stephenson Island,sheltered fishing inside the harbour in adverse conditions.
2.Rangaunu Harbour 20 minutes *north by road on the base of Cape kari kari peninsular,launch on the beach at Rangiptu four wheel drive recommended for bigger boats shelter launching except for extreme southwest wind,good scallop diving outside the bay.Sheltered fishing inside harbour in north east conditions ,large shallow harbour drains through narrow entrance ,heavy sinkers long trace recommended,fishes well from the top of the tide down,harbour full of kingis ,stingrays and pods of Orcas at times.
3.Houhora Harbour 1 hour north* game fishing mecca for the three Kings ,great schnapper fishing in the harbour entrance down east Beach towards Rangaunu,Big kingies and John Dory off the wharf most of the year,excellent diving up the coast along great Exhibition Bay.
4.Paregarenga Harbour one hour and a quarter *north beautiful white silicon sands give the beaches and harbour a tropical setting favorite with locals most fishing done inside the harbour bright clear water teeming with Piper Kingfish ,breeding ground for big stingrays ,that heavy thing at the end of the rod is not always a schnapper,close to North Cape for heavenly diving in crystal waters.
5.West Coast 45 minutes *to Ahipara launch boat off beach at Shipwreck Bay,sheltered from southwest swell ,take a rope easy to float boat onto trailer when leaving the beach use the rope to pull up on the hard same applies at most beach launchings.great option when easterlies flatten the swell,the last few years east coast has fished better for schnapper but the west coast fishery is showing signs of recovery.Beach access also at Waipapakauri for the drive to Cape Reinga.

In addition there are many local Charter boat companies available (including Pisces Charters) to take out the less experienced boaties or simply grab a line and take a kid fishing ,always a good option is the Mangonui and Houhora wharves little kids cans catch sprats ,dad can live bait for John Dory, kingies ,toilets and ice-cream nearby, if all else fails the Fish and Chip shop is right next door!!!
